An apartment fire displaced three families in Boise Sunday morning.

Crews responded to the fire at Whitewater Park Apartments at 3:30 a.m.

Boise Fire says it started in the fireplace flue of an apartment on the third floor. The fire extended into the attic space severely damaging the roof, attic space and ceiling above two of the units.

Six other units had moderate water damage. The fire did not extended into any of the other 24 units in that building.

No one was injured. One firefighter had to be rescued by ladder after slipping on an icy roof.

Red Cross and the Boise Fire Burnout fund are assisting residents affected by the fire.
