The Molokai Public Library will celebrate its 80th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 15 Ala Malama Ave. in Kaunakakai.
The library opened May 21, 1937. It will celebrate its anniversary with performances on the front lawn by Halau Hula o Nohikupuhalaulani, under the direction of kumu Valerie Dudoit-Temahaga and Halau Hula Ka No eau, directed by kumu Michael Pili Pang.
There will be music by Na Ohana Hoaloha and words of appreciation and celebration from State Librarian Stacey Aldrich. There will be exhibits inside the library.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Maui Friends of the Library, Friends of the Molokai Public Library and other organizations.
