Recording artist Kamalei Kawa’a will headline the entertainment lineup during the 39th annual Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole Ho’olaule’a at Paukukalo Park from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

“It’s three or four times larger than last year,” event Co-Chairperson Janice Herrick said of the festivities, which will start with a traditional Hawaiian opening protocol and will honor Kuhio in the wake of Monday’s state holiday saluting him as the father of the Hawaiian homestead program.

Kawa’a with Kama’ehu and Friends will kick off entertainment at 4:15 p.m., followed by Alu Like mele and hula, Villaren ‘Ohana and Beenee Mann before culminating with 808 Vibes at 7 p.m.

The event will also feature 19 vendors offering food items such as pastele stew and poke kalo, and crafts such as clothing and laser-engraved wood products. There will also be six traditional artisans, first responders keiki giveaways and community-information booths.
